Lubbock voters elected a brand new member of their City Council in a special runoff election on Saturday night.
Tim Green, a homebuilder and former firefighter, defeated former City Councilman Gary Boren in a runoff for the District 4 City Council seat, 61-39 percent. Green, who had the endorsements of several former Lubbock city leaders, ran on a platform of public safety and economic growth in Lubbock.
Green is expected to be sworn in during the Lubbock City Council meeting scheduled for August 11th. He will replace Councilman Braden Rose, who resigned earlier this year. Green’s term will end in May 2028.
