Texas GOP Vice Chair Launches Bid for State Party Chair

Texas Republican delegates will have a choice for state party chair when they convene for their state convention this summer.

D’Rinda Randall, the current vice chair of the Republican Party of Texas, announced her candidacy this week to be the next chair of the state party. Randall’s campaign website has been updated to reflect her candidacy for state chair, while showcasing her accomplishments in her current role.

Randall is likely going to challenge sitting Chairman Abraham George at this year’s convention. George has not yet made it clear whether he will be seeking re-election, himself.

Delegates to the state convention will be tasked with electing a new party chair and vice chair. Under the party’s rules, the two offices must be occupied by officeholders of opposite genders, meaning both male and female candidates will likely announce for vice chair if George seeks re-election.

The convention will be held in June in Houston.
