Abraham George is officially seeking a second term as chairman of the Republican Party of Texas.
In a statement released on social media this week, George announced his plans to seek another term as the leader of the state Republican organization. George highlighted the passage of 43 Republican priority bills during the most recent legislative session and the lawsuit to close the state Republican primaries as two of his major successes.
The lawsuit George mentioned in his statement was notably filed in federal district court in Amarillo, with Amarillo business owner and precinct chairwoman Chip Hunt listed as a co-plaintiff against the State of Texas.
George is being challenged for a second term by D’Rinda Randall, the current vice chair of the party. There is no word yet on whether any other candidates plan to run.
This election will be decided at the Republican Party of Texas convention in Houston in June.
