Poll: Hunt Edging Cornyn Out of Senate Runoff

A new poll is indicating that U.S. Sen. John Cornyn may be in real trouble in his re-election bid this year.

According to the new poll by J.L. Partners, Cornyn is currently running in third place in the primary for U.S. Senate, trailing challengers Ken Paxton and Wesley Hunt. In a three-way race, Paxton leads with 27%, followed by Hunt at 25.7% and Cornyn at 25.5%.

The poll went on to find that in head-to-head matchups, Hunt leads both Paxton and Cornyn. Against Paxton, Hunt leads, 44-34%. Meanwhile, Hunt leads against Cornyn, 41-40%.

Among Republican primary voters, Hunt also had the highest favorable rating at +42%, followed by Paxton at +27% and Cornyn at +14%.

The Republican primary election will be held on March 3rd.
