Both Potter County Commissioners up for re-election in 2026 will have to defeat challengers if they wish to serve another term.
In Precinct 2, Republican Commissioner Blair Schaffer drew a challenge from truck driver Jeff Raef. Raef, who was the longtime owner of an Amarillo flooring company, filed to challenge Schaffer over the weekend, Potter County GOP Chairman Dan Rogers confirmed.
Meanwhile, in Precinct 4, Democratic County Commissioner Warren Coble will face a challenge from Republican Jose Perez. Perez is a law enforcement officer.
The primary elections will be held in March and the general election is set for November 2026.
