Raef to Win November Race in Potter Unopposed

After a little anticipation surrounding a potential surprise write-in candidate, voters will ultimately have an uncontested race for Potter County Commissioner in Precinct 2.

Jeff Raef, the truck driver and businessman who won the Republican primary in Precinct 2 in March, will be unopposed in November. Raef defeated incumbent Blair Schaffer in his primary, 51-49%.

Last week, Schaffer teased that his spouse might run as a write-in candidate for the office, and a few supporters shared graphics calling on her to run. However, she ultimately did not file, leaving Raef as the sole contender in the race.

Meanwhile, Potter County will have two contested races for other seats on the Commissioners’ Court. In Precinct 4, Democrat Tim Gassaway and Republican Jose Perez are running in the November election. Meanwhile, Democrat Jerri Glover and Republican Michelle Eggleston are running countywide in the race for county judge.
