Texas Senators will receive testimony on appraisal district funding during a committee meeting at the end of the month.
The Senate Local Government Committee — which is chaired by Houston Republican Paul Bettencourt — will receive testimony from invited guests and the public on several topics during a meeting on September 1st. One of the items relates to appraisal district funding, with the caption reading “Study the governance, budgeting authority, and cost allocation practices of county appraisal districts. Examine the fiscal impact of appraisal district costs on taxing entities.”
According to the description, Senators are also evaluating whether “additional guardrails are warranted” related to appraisal district funding.
In addition to these topics, testimony will also be taken on increasing the homestead tax exemption and keeping local government fees accountable.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 1st, at 11am, at the Texas Capitol.
