Candidate filing ended Monday for the elections for six spots on local appraisal district boards.

In Potter County, voters will have three uncontested races for the seats on their county’s appraisal district board in November. In Place 1, incumbent Tom Warren filed for re-election and will win unopposed. In Place 2, Hope Castillo McCoy filed to run and will replace incumbent Jodie Wheeler, who did not file to seek re-election. In Place 3, John Adair filed to run for the seat currently held by Craig Gualtiere, who did not seek re-election.

In Randall County, voters will likely decide one contested race, while the other two seats will be uncontested. For Place 1, Claudette Smith filed to run for the spot held by incumbent Claudia Burkett, who did not file to seek re-election. For Place 2, Mike Fisher filed to run for the seat held by incumbent Deborah Foster, who did not file to seek re-election. Finally, for Place 3, incumbent Jason Ault filed to seek re-election and will be opposed by former Amarillo City Councilman Tom Scherlen.

It is still possible write-in candidates could get on the ballot, as they have until Friday to file their applications.

The winners of the November elections will join the boards that govern the operations of the Potter-Randall Appraisal District. This election will come as the board is currently navigating an anticipated contract renegotiation between the two counties.
