State Rep. Caroline Fairly hosted a group of Texas Panhandle students at the State Capitol this week, allowing them to learn more about Texas government.
The Panhandle Capitol Leadership Program — an inaugural initiative hosted by Fairly — allowed students from various Panhandle schools to gather and share their ideas. Students were able to visit the Governor’s Mansion, take a tour of the Capitol, attend etiquette training, and present ideas to their peers.
Participating students in the program included Randi Purgason, Angel Aguilar, Gideon Stinson (Follett ISD); Hellen Chitic, Monse Zamudio (Stratford ISD); Kaydence Kovar, Lillie Stubblefield, Kathryn Ruiz (River Road ISD); Cate Dowdy (San Jacinto Christian Academy); Anima Tumula, Grae Gerig, Zadie Shreffler (Ascension Academy); Ellie Carbajal, Aylah Jones, Paige Solomon (The Oaks); Mason Perry, Norah Bennett, Jocelynn Guevara (Amarillo ISD); and Andrew Russell (Perryton ISD).
“Seeing this extremely bright group of students presenting their ideas was one of the most rewarding experiences of my legislative career so far,” Fairly said in a statement. “I am grateful to every student, teacher, and parent who made the trip. The future of the Panhandle is in excellent hands.”
