What We're Covering Next: Oklahoma Gubernatorial Race

This year, we’ll be bringing our readers coverage of Oklahoma’s marquee race to replace term-limited incumbent governor Kevin Stitt.

Stitt, who was first elected in 2018, is term-limited after having served two terms in office, so a large group of a candidates has assembled to succeed him. In the Republican primary, candidates include Attorney General Gentner Drummond, former House Speaker Charles McCall, former Oklahoma Secretary of Public Safety Chip Keating, former Oklahoma Budget Secretary Mike Mazzei, former State Sen. Jake Merrick, former Mangum city manager Leisa Hayes, and business owner Kenneth Sturgell.

In the Democratic primary, Oklahoma State Rep. Cyndi Munson and professional Arya Azma are running.

Ballot filing will occur in April. The primary elections will be held on June 16, 2026.
