Oklahoma Republicans advanced two candidates to a runoff election on Tuesday night in the contest to replace term-limited Gov. Kevin Stitt.
In the first round of voting, Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond finished in first place with 26.3 percent of the vote, ahead of Trump-endorsed former State Sen. Mike Mazzei, who received 26 percent.
Trailing Drummond and Mazzei were former Public Safety Commissioner Chip Keating with 19 percent, former State Sen. Jake Merrick with 15 percent, and former Speaker of the Oklahoma House Charles McCall with 12 percent. Four other candidates split the remaining vote.
The winner of the runoff in August will advance to the general election against Democrat Cyndi Munson, who won her own primary on Tuesday night with 75 percent of the vote.
