Paxton Officially Files for Texas U.S. Senate Ballot

Attorney General Ken Paxton has placed his name on the ballot for the upcoming March primary election.

According to the Republican Party of Texas, Paxton filed his application on November 11th to run for the U.S. Senate in 2026. His application is still pending acceptance, as of this writing.

Paxton is challenging U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in the primary election. Cornyn, who is seeking re-election, filed his application for a spot on the primary ballot on November 8th. In addition to Paxton and Cornyn, Virgil Bierschwale has also filed for the Republican primary ballot. U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt, a Houston Republican, has announced his intent to run for the U.S. Senate but has not yet filed his application for the ballot.

On the Democratic side, no candidates have filed for the U.S. Senate, as of this writing.
