Contested County Judge Race Gearing Up in Western Panhandle

Voters in Vega and Hereford will be picking a new district judge next year.

According to the Republican Party of Texas, two candidates have filed for the ballot to serve as the next judge of the 222nd District Court. Erin Odle-Baird and Chris Strowd have both filed for the bench currently held by Judge Roland Saul.

Odle-Baird is an attorney at the Potter-Armstong Public Defender's Office, according to her profile on the State Bar’s website. Meanwhile, Strowd is the current Deaf Smith County Criminal District Attorney.

The 222nd District Court is a felony criminal and civil trial court with jurisdiction in Oldham and Deaf Smith counties.

The Republican primary will be held in March 2026.
