Two spots on the Center City Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Board of Directors will be filled by the Amarillo City Council during its meeting on Tuesday.
According to a posted agenda, one seat on the Center City TIRZ Board held by Gary Jennings, and another seat that is currently sitting vacant, will be filled on Tuesday night. Councilmembers may choose from a list of applicants from the community to fill the seats, or may appoint someone else.
Jennings has indicated that he would like to serve again, according to a memo attached to the agenda. Meanwhile, the applicants for the vacancy are Christopher Walker, Elizabeth Musick, Emily Koller, Mark Gilbreath, and Rebecca Gladney.
The Center City TIRZ Board has come under scrutiny after the board recently voted to assign a tax rebate package for the downtown Courtyard by Marriott hotel to an ownership group led by former Mayor Ginger Nelson’s husband, Kevin. The Board also gained citizen ire after attempting to enter executive session at a meeting on Friday without allowing public comment.
