Six Arrested on Online Solicitation of a Minor Charges

Six individuals have been booked into a local jail on charges of Online Solicitation of a Minor.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, over the past year and a half, authorities have received information that several local teenage girls are involved in human trafficking. This includes girls who have been forced into this behavior and those who have been prostituting themselves on dating/escort services.

On September 21st, the APD Special Victims Unit and ProActive Criminal Enforcement Unit set up an undercover sting operation, posing as 15 and 16 year old girls. Suspects allegedly initiated contact with officers by text message and arranged to have sexual intercourse for money.

When suspects arrived at the agreed-upon location, they were arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail on charges of Online Solicitation of a Minor, a felony offense. Six individuals were arrested, ranging in age from 29 years to 50 years old.

APD Special Victims will continue these investigations, according to APD.
