Over four-hundred citations were issued by the Amarillo Police Department during the 2018 Click It or Ticket campaign.
According to APD, between May 21st and June 3rd, officers issued 319 seatbelt citations, 21 child restraint citations, 63 speeding citations and 19 distracted driving citations. Officials also say 165 "other violations" were issued. Grant funded officers also made 22 municipal misdemeanor arrests, two county level arrests, two felony arrests and served one-hundred warrants.
Overall, officials say APD recorded an 85.4 percent seatbelt usage rate citywide before the campaign. After the campaign, usage was at 93 percent.
