There is a new justice now serving on the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo.

Last week, Justice Laura Pratt was recognized by Gov. Greg Abbott in a ceremony at the Texas Capitol in Austin. Pratt, who was first sworn in in April, was appointed by Abbott to fill a vacancy on the court left by the ascension of Justice Judy Parker to the chief justice role.

Prior to taking her place on the bench, Pratt was a practicing civil litigation attorney in Lubbock. Her experience includes time with Sprouse Shrader Smith PLLC and the City of Lubbock Attorney’s Office. She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and Texas Tech University School of Law.
