Amarillo Wrestling Legend Dory Funk Jr. Passes

Dory Funk Jr., a WWE Hall of Famer and legend of the squared circle in Amarillo, has died. He was 85 years old.

Funk Jr., the son of wrestling promoter Dory Funk Sr., was known for his tag team run with his brother, Terry Funk. Funk Jr.’s run in the National Wrestling Alliance included winning the tag team titles multiple times with his brother, as well as winning the world championship once.

Funk Jr. had a short run in the World Wrestling Federation following his NWA successes. This run included an appearance in Wrestlemania 2 with his brother, Terry, when the duo defeated the Junkyard Dog and Tito Santana. Funk Jr. was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009 with his brother.

Following his WWF run, Funk Jr. continued to wrestle in various international and independent promotions before launching his own wrestling school in Florida.
