Texas Republican Party Chairman Abraham George has conceded his loss in his attempt to be reelected as chair at the party’s convention in Houston.
The concession came as several caucuses were still voting, but early indications were that he would be defeated by Texas Republican Party Vice Chair Drinda Randall. Among the delegations to vote for Randall was Amarillo’s State Senate District 31.
In a statement on X, George congratulated Randall and incoming Vice Chair David Covey.
“Now is the time to come together, unite behind our Republican nominees, support the entire Republican ticket in November, advance our legislative priorities in the next session, and continue standing firmly for the conservative principles outlined in our platform,” wrote George. “I am grateful to everyone who supported our campaign, and I remain committed to serving our party and fighting for the values that make Texas strong.”
