Ronny Jackson Endorses Potter County JP Candidate

U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Amarillo) is wading into the waters of one local race, throwing his support behind one of the candidates in the May runoff for Potter County justice of the peace.

Jackson made a post on social media this week endorsing Amanda Mayfield for the Precinct 1 justice of the peace position. Mayfield, a retired attorney, is running against chaplain and insurance broker Bryan Tackett for the Republican nomination to replace retiring incumbent Debbie Horn.

In the post, Jackson accompanied his endorsement of Mayfield with a photo showing Mayfield, Jackson, and U.S. Rep. Chip Roy at a recent event.

Whoever wins the Republican runoff for the position will face Democrat David Martinez in the general election. The winner will take office in January, presiding over the court responsible for most truancy hearings, landlord-tenant disputes, small claims civil litigation, and traffic tickets in southcentral Potter County.
