Kelly Giles Hires High-Profile Lawyer for Election Fraud Defense

Randall County GOP Chairman Kelly Giles has hired attorney T. Lynn Walden to defend him in his ongoing election fraud case.

Giles has served as Chairman for the Randall County GOP since 2023, and filed to run for a full term in the 2024 primary election. The criminal case against Giles alleges that Giles, in his capacity as County Chair, fraudulently certified his application and nominating petition.

In a radio interview with Michael J Stevens, Giles called the case “a political hit job” linked to those unhappy with him not taking a position in support of the Proposition A Sanctuary City for the Unborn ballot initiative. That proposition, which Giles called “a trojan horse,” was defeated in the 2024 November election.

According to court filings, Giles is being represented by T. Lynn Walden, an attorney based in Nederland, Texas.

This isn’t Walden’s first high-profile case in Amarillo. He previously represented local businessman Alex Fairly in his lawsuit against the City of Amarillo. In that case, the court found Amarillo City Council, under then-mayor Ginger Nelson, had violated state law in an attempt to raise taxes to fund improvements to the Amarillo Civic Center.
