U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Amarillo) will be rolling into his third re-election bid with the backing of the sitting president of the United States.
Over the weekend, President Donald Trump issued a social media statement endorsing Jackson for re-election as congressman in Texas’ 13th Congressional District. Trump praised Jackson as “an America First Patriot” and said Jackson will “defend our country” and support the military.
“‘Doc’ Ronny Jackson has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election — HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN,” Trump wrote.
Jackson is up for re-election in 2026 and has drawn one opponent so far — Democrat Mark Nair, an Amarillo entrepreneur who previously served on the Amarillo City Council.
This is not the first election where Jackson has had Trump’s backing. Trump endorsed Jackson during his first run in 2020, and his subsequent re-election bids in 2022 and 2024.
