Amarillo attorney Jesse Quackenbush is officially on the ballot, seeking the Republican nomination for Texas House District 87.

According to the Republican Party of Texas, Quackenbush filed his ballot application on Tuesday. This will be the Amarillo attorney’s second bid for the Texas Legislature in two cycles, as he also sought the Republican nomination for State Senate in District 31 in 2022. Interestingly, Quackenbush has run for House District 87 before, having been the Democratic nominee for the seat in 2002.

A graduate of the University of Houston, Quackenbush is arguably one of the most well-known lawyers in the Amarillo area. According to Quackenbush’s website, his practice involves representing clients in both state and federal criminal trials, as well as in personal injury claims.

Quackenbush joins medical claims negotiator Caroline Fairly and realtor Cindi Bulla in the primary race for the seat.

The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
