Congressional Contender Wiley First to File for Republican Ballot

Candidate filing opened across Texas on Saturday, with one congressional candidate being the first to officially file for a spot on the 2024 Republican primary election ballot.

Cliff Wiley, who is running for Congress in District 6, filed his application for the ballot on Saturday and is the first candidate listed by the Republican Party of Texas as having filed. Wiley is a public school teacher and business owner who is running for the seat currently held by U.S. Rep. Jake Ellzey (R-Waxahachie). Ellzey has not yet announced whether he will be seeking re-election.

Candidate filing will continue until Monday, December 11. The primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
