City Council, Amarillo EDC Considering Property Purchase

Amarillo City Councilmembers and Amarillo Economic Development Corporation board members will consider signing off on the purchase of a piece of property next week.

According to an agenda for the Amarillo City Council, Councilmembers are considering voting to approve the purchase of a piece of property at Loop 335 and South Georgia Street for a cost of around $3.52 million. The price tag will include closing costs and inspection related expenses, City officials say. The item will first go before the AEDC Board of Directors on Monday before it can head to the City Council.

From the agenda released by the City of Amarillo, it is unclear what the exact address of the property will be when the City Council considers approval of the purchase.

Also, during an executive session, the Amarillo City Council will discuss the “purchase or sale of real property” and “economic development negotiations” for property located at West Amarillo Boulevard and North Madison Street.

The Amarillo City Council will meet on Tuesday, June 11th in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue). The meeting will begin at 5PM.
