New Candidate Joins Race for AISD Board of Trustees

Another candidate has joined the race for the Amarillo Independent School District Board of Trustees.

Dick Ford, a local commercial realtor, announced via his personal Facebook page this weekend that he will run for a spot on the Board of Trustees in the upcoming May election. This will be the first foray into electoral politics for Ford. According to the website for his realty company, Ford is a U.S. Navy veteran, and holds degrees from West Texas State University.

Along with Ford, a number of other candidates have already declared their intentions to run for seats on the Board of Trustees. Kimberly Anderson has signed up to challenge the incumbents, and incumbents John Betancourt and Jim Austin are running for re-election. Meanwhile, no candidates have announced their intentions to challenge incumbent Robin R. Malone in the AISD unexpired term special election.

Filing will end on February 15th for this election. The election will be held on May 4th.
