Eight to Vie for Spots on Amarillo ISD Board

Eight candidates are looking to win spots on the Amarillo ISD Board of Trustees this May.

Ahead of the May 4th filing deadline, incumbents Jim Austin and John Betancourt filed to run for spots on the Amarillo ISD Board of Trustees. Meanwhile, challengers Kimberly Anderson, Hobert Brown Jr., Alonzo Everhart, Dick Ford, Aaron Ladd, and Rob Parker filed to seek spots. There will be one open seat in that race, but Betancourt and Austin are also in danger of losing their seats this May.

Meanwhile, in the district’s special election, incumbent Robin Malone will run unopposed. Malone was appointed to the board in 2018 to fulfill the remainder of James Allen’s term, following the long-time trustee’s resignation.

Voters will decide this contest on May 4th.
