Local Organizations Benefit on Giving Tuesday

Several local organizations received the support of Amarillo residents during Giving Tuesday this week.

An annual event, Giving Tuesday encourages consumers to give to their favorite charities and non-profits to support their work in the community. Several organizations, including Amarillo Youth Choirs, Amarillo Fellowship Church, and Amarillo Opera were among the list of non-profits who took to social media to share the word about Giving Tuesday.

The event also coincides with the Amarillo Area Foundation’s Panhandle Gives campaign, which pledges to also donate to local organizations in Amarillo.

One local non-profit director and supporter said in a submission to the Amarillo Pioneer that he hopes local residents will take advantage of the Panhandle Gives program.

“It's a time for ALL of us to come together and give to those less needy, to pay it forward and to help make Amarillo a BETTER place,” the Amarillo Area Youth Center’s Matt Hite said in a statement, noting that his organization is among those participating in Panhandle Gives.
