Non-Stop Flights from Amarillo to Austin Begin in September

Amarillo residents can fly to Austin beginning later this year.

During a press conference on Tuesday, officials with Rick Husband International Airport announced that non-stop flights from Amarillo to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Austin will begin on September 19th. The flights will be provided by Via Airlines.

In the press conference, Councilman Eddy Sauer praised the new flight route, saying that it is an important accomplishment for Amarillo's airport.

“Our transportation needs continue to increase as Amarillo grows,” Sauer said. “This announcement of a non-stop flight to Austin is a perfect example of airlines identifying our city as a key destination in Texas and our Airport staff’s commitment to strategically address those travel needs.”

Tickets for the first flights to Austin can be purchased now on www.flyviaair.com.
