Amarillo Celebrates First Flight to Phoenix

The first plane has left Rick Husband International Airport on its way to Phoenix, Arizona.

On Wednesday morning, the first American Airlines flight from Rick Husband International Airport in Amarillo to Phoenix took place. The flight was celebrated by a group of residents who assembled at the airport, along with the Amarillo City Council and city manager Jared Miller.

The flight marks the beginning of a new initiative approved by the City of Amarillo for the flight contract with American Airlines. The addition of the Phoenix route is the first time a new regular service has been added to Rick Husband International Airport since 2010.
