High Profile Downtown Building Getting New Name

The signs are off the wall for one downtown building that is getting a renaming makeover.

According to announcement made this week by Gaut Whittenburg Emerson Real Estate, the building formerly known at the Chase Building in downtown Amarillo is getting a new name. The building will now be known as the FirstBank Southwest Tower. The longtime Amarillo bank plans to move into the first floor of the historic building later this year, pending regulatory approval.

In a statement, one of the building's real estate brokers praised the move, saying that it will provide an important service for those doing business downtown.

“A bank is a significant amenity to an office building,” Aaron Emerson said in a statement. “FirstBank Southwest is very engaged in the community. I anticipate they will have high traffic, and that high traffic will be a valuable addition to the building’s current professional community.”

This location will mark the opening of the first downtown branch of FirstBank Southwest. The bank was expected to be renamed after Chase Bank recently moved out of the first floor of the building.
