Governor Greg Abbott's office has announced the approval of declaring a disaster area in Tom Green County.
Governor Abbott announced today that the Small Business Administration approved the Governor's request for declaring a disaster area in the county. Governor Abbott requested approval to declare a disaster in the county following a series of strong storms in June.
The Small Business Administration's approval of Governor Abbott's request will allow the SBS to make "long-term, low-interest-rate physical disaster home and business loans and economic injury disaster loans available to citizens and businesses affected by the storms," according to the Governor's office.
“Texans have always come together to rebuild their lives after natural disasters and this time will be no different,” Governor Abbott said in a statement. “These disaster loans will go a long way in aiding those affected by the severe storms in Tom Green county, and I thank the Small Business Administration for their swift action in granting them.”
