New Council to Take Office

The new Amarillo City Council will take office during Tuesday's meeting of the City Council.

Ginger Nelson, Elaine Hays, Freda Powell, Eddy Sauer, and Howard Smith will all take spots on the dais, replacing Mayor Paul Harpole and Council members Elisha Demerson, Lisa Blake, Randy Burkett, and Mark Nair. The Council's swearing-in will mark the beginning of a two-year term.

The meeting has also been pushed to an earlier time at 4pm, to accommodate Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner, who will be administering the oaths of office.

The meeting will be held at Amarillo City Hall (509 SE 7th Avenue) on Tuesday, May 16th.
