City Board to Recommend Seven New Red Light Cameras

A City of Amarillo board could be recommending the placement of seven new red light cameras this week.

According to an agenda posted for Thursday's meeting of the Photographic Traffic Signal Enforcement Advisory Committee shows that the committee looks set to recommend the establishment of seven new locations for red light cameras. Among these locations to be considered during Thursday's meeting include: Taylor and Southeast 10th Avenue; South Grand and Interstate 40; South Buchanan and Southeast 3rd Avenue; South Grand and Interstate 40; South Pierce and Amarillo Boulevard, South Bell and Plains; and Georgia and Southwest 26th Avenue.

These are not the only changes that could come to the City's red light camera program during Thursday's meeting. Three red light camera locations could also see the removal of red light cameras. These locations include: South Coulter and Elmhurst; South Pierce and Southeast 11th Avenue; and South Fillmore and Amarillo Boulevard.

No public comment will be taken on the changes during Thursday's meeting.

As the committee serves as a subcommittee of the Amarillo Traffic Advisory Board, it is likely that any changes would first go to the Traffic Board for approval. Members of the Amarillo City Council would have final say on any changes to the program.

Thursday's meeting will be held in Room 306 of Amarillo City Hall (509 SE 7th Avenue) on Thursday, October 26th. The meeting will take place at 11:30am.
