As Mosquito Issues Continue in Amarillo, City Reminds Residents of Four D's

City officials are reminding residents to fight mosquitoes by using the four "d"s in daily routine.

According to City officials, while the mosquito population in Amarillo continues to surge, residents can fight the mosquitoes by using a four daily habits. City staff says that residents should drain water and mow grass, use DEET insect repellent, dress with long sleeve shirts and long pants and limit time outdoors at dusk and dawn.

All four steps are part of the City of Amarillo Environmental Health department's plan for reducing mosquitoes in Amarillo. Environmental health staff also plan to continue spraying and fogging for mosquitoes.
