Democrat Cedric Davis to Challenge Abbott

Another Democratic challenger has emerged to face Governor Greg Abbott in 2018.

Cedric Davis, former mayor of Balch Springs, has announced that he will be challenging Governor Abbott in 2018. Davis announced his campaign this week, saying that he is a "great listener and bridge builder."

Davis joins Dallas businessman Jeffrey Payne and Tom Wakely, a south Texas hospice owner, vying for the Democratic nomination for governor. Larry SECEDE Kilgore is running on the Republican side and Kory Watkins in running for the Libertarian nomination.

Also announced in musician Thor Harris. It is unclear on what ticket Harris plans to run.

Filing for statewide office begins next month and runs through December 11th.
