APD: One Pedestrian Killed in Vehicle Accident

The Amarillo Police Department is reporting that one pedestrian is dead following a vehicle collision, this morning.

According to APD's report, Theresa Rider, 66, was crossing the street with her husband at 4900 South Coulter.  Rider and her husband were crossing westbound at the pedestrian traffic signal. An 84-year old man in a pewter GMC Sierra was exiting out of the parking lot of the Lowe's store and was planning to turn northbound on Coulter.

APD reports that the man in the GMC then struck Rider with the front of his vehicle. Rider was then transported to a local hospital, where she later died.

Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson has ordered an autopsy to be preformed Wednesday in Lubbock. The APD Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the case. APD reports that the case will be turned over to the Randall County District Attorney's office for review.
