The Amarillo City Council has several key items on the agenda next week.

On Tuesday, June 18th, the Amarillo City Council will consider approving the purchase of repairs of the roof for the Amarillo Civic Center Complex at a cost of $6.15 million. The roof repair contract will also include repairs to the EIFS, and repairs to interior damages caused by a June 2017 hail storm. The repairs to the roof will be funded by the City’s insurer, according to the meeting agenda.

Also, during the meeting, the Amarillo City Council will consider approving a $600,000 incentive agreement with the West Texas A&M University Enterprise Center for the development of a “technology accelerator program.” City officials say the three year deal would “facilitate the growth of development for new primary companies, provides new technology opportunities to regional corporations and increase community involvement in the economic ecosystem.”

While the deal is an Amarillo Economic Development Corporation incentive agreement, the deal will have to be approved by the City Council to take effect.

The Amarillo City Council’s meeting will begin at 12:45PM on Tuesday in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (601 South Buchanan).
