End of the Path? Council to Consider City Manager's Resignation

Amarillo City Manager Grayson Path may soon be leaving his role, according to a recently released city council agenda.

The council is expected to begin their meeting on Tuesday, September 22nd, with a closed-door discussion of Path’s employment. Following this, the council will convene in open session at 3:00 pm. During the open session, tucked away at the end of the consent agenda, the council is expected to vote on an item to consider “the acceptance of the resignation of the City Manager.”

The agenda item references section 9.A.d of Path's employment contract, which allows Path to declare he was terminated upon receiving a request for his resignation. While we do not have full details, this may imply that the council is asking for him to resign.

Path was first hired by Amarillo City Council in 2024, following a months long search for a new City Manager following the departure of Jared Miller, who had served in the role for over 6 years.
