Amarillo Assistant Police Chief Announces Retirement

Assistant Amarillo Police Chief Jimmy Johnson is walking away from the Amarillo Police Department after nearly four decades of service.

The City of Amarillo announced Johnson’s retirement on Wednesday. Johnson, who began his career with APD in 1988, has served in a variety of roles within APD. His experience includes service as APD’s interim police chief prior to the selection of Thomas Hover as police chief.

Johnson’s last day with APD will be April 30th.
