Amarillo has a new head honcho at City Hall — at least in an interim capacity.
On Tuesday, the Amarillo City Council voted to hire Rodney Rhoades to be the city’s new interim city manager. As per his agreement, Rhoades will be paid $175 per hour for his services.
Rhoades brings nearly 40 years of local government experience to the job, with past positions serving Travis County, Collin County, North Texas Municipal Water District, and the City of McKinney. Rhoades is also the founder of Rhoades Public Solutions, a public services consulting firm.
While the City Council conducts its search for Amarillo’s next permanent city manager, Rhoades will lead the city. He takes over from Andrew Freeman, who served as acting city manager.
