Amarillo City Council is set to consider nearly $12.5 million in spending during their upcoming November 14th regular meeting.

The largest spending item, item 10H, is a $5.3 million contract with Tri-State General Contracting Group for “demolition, site preparation, site security, and construction” of two City of Amarillo Fueling Center locations. One location will be at 1009 SE 21st Ave, while the other will be at 701 SE 27th Ave.

In addition to 10H, there are 19 other spending items on the agenda, though all items other than 10H are on the consent portion of the agenda, meaning they will likely all be passed together with a single vote.

The second largest spending item, item 9AA, is a service contract with Advance Water Well Technologies for City of Amarillo well fields in Potter and Carson counties. The item is worth up to $2,900,000, as it is an up to $725,000 contract with 3 one-year options to renew.

A full summary of spending items is included at the end of this article.

All spending items on the agenda were included in the rolling planner published by the city on November 3rd. However, two spending items that were included on the rolling planner did not make it onto the final agenda.

One item originally slated for inclusion on the agenda was a $248,038 contract with Panhandle Steel Buildings to remodel the Amarillo Police Department Property Evidence Building. The other item originally slated for inclusion on the agenda was an approximately $1 million contract with HDR Engineers for design and construction phase services for water main extensions in east Amarillo. According to the most recent rolling planner, published on November 10th, both of these items are now slated to be on the agenda for the council’s December 12th regular meeting.

Aside from spending items, the council will also be considering numerous board appointments, vacating two alleyways, an amendment to the city budget to change the number of firefighter positions, setting the date for a public hearing on a potential annexation of land north of the airport, and an ordinance making changes to parking regulations. The agenda also includes discussion items regarding the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation, a resolution for “digital dignity, rights and privacy,” APD procedures for responding to traffic accidents, a new bulk trash initiative, the Community Investment Program, and the city manager recruitment process.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 14th. It will be held on the third floor of City Hall. Before the regular meeting, Amarillo City Council will hold a closed-door executive session meeting at 1:00 pm. Councilman Tom Scherlen will be available to meet with members of the public in Room 203 of City Hall on Monday, November 13th from noon to 1:00 pm.
