State Board of Education member Aaron Kinsey has announced that he will be seeking re-election in 2024.

Kinsey, a Republican from Midland, announced his campaign for re-election in a statement on Wednesday. While announcing his campaign for re-election, Kinsey highlighted his work providing oversight on librarian certification programs and his opposition to BlackRock as a few of his accomplishments.

“I am proud of the work we have accomplished so far in my first term, but there is much more to be done,” Kinsey said in his statement. “We must continue to safeguard parents’ rights, combat the radical left on curriculum issues, and most importantly, protect our children from overt sexualization in the classroom. I have brought conservative leadership to Austin to fight for West Texas and the Panhandle, and I intend to continue defending our traditional American values, which are constantly under attack.”

First elected in 2022, Kinsey defeated incumbent Jay Johnson to claim his seat on the State Board of Education. Kinsey represents District 15 on the State Board of Education, which includes cities like Amarillo, Canyon, Lubbock, Midland, Odessa, and Wichita Falls.

Kinsey is the CEO of American Patrols and a graduate of Texas A&M University and the Harvard Business School.

The Republican primary election for this seat is scheduled for March 5, 2024. Candidate filing begins next month.
