Ballot Changes Coming to Amarillo School Board Races

Three candidates who were supposed to appear on the May 1 ballot in the Amarillo area will not be on the ballot, after all.

Amarillo College Board of Regents candidates Brian Sicher and Edwin Greiner will not be appearing on the ballot, which was confirmed by the ballot drawing order released by Amarillo College. With the departure of these two candidates, incumbents Anette Carlisle and Dan Henke will remain on the ballot, alongside four challengers — Peggy Carter Thomas, Adrian Meander, John Betancourt, and Don Nicholson.

Meanwhile, Amarillo ISD also announced this week that Hanna Podzemny withdrew her application after originally filing as a candidate for the school board. With her departure, seven candidates remain on the ballot: incumbents Doyle Corder, David Nance, and Kayla Mendez, and challengers Louis Montano, Bennie D. Anderson, Charles D’Amico, and Don Powell.

Early voting will begin on Monday, April 19. Election Day is May 1.
