Amarillo ISD Election Draws Eight Candidates

Eight candidates have thrown their names into the hat to serve on the Amarillo Independent School District Board of Trustees.

Through the filing deadline on Friday, eight candidates filed for spots on the ballot in a race that will see four new trustees elected to the board. Notably, Board President Robin R. Malone did not file for re-election, ensuring voters will see at least one new face on the school board.

According to AISD, the candidates who filed were as follows:

  • Bennie D. Anderson

  • Doyle Corder

  • Charles D’Amico

  • Kayla Mendez

  • Louis P. Montaño

  • David Nance

  • Hanna Podzemny

  • Don Powell

Election Day is May 1.
