Amarillo Police have announced the passing of a decorated police corporal.
According to APD, Cpl. Mike Sanchez passed away on Monday morning after a battle with COVID-19. Sanchez had worked as a peace officer after graduating from the Amarillo Police Academy in 2005. Sanchez served in numerous roles within APD, including his most recent assignment as a Traffic Crash Investigator.
Sanchez is survived by his wife, Brandi, and his five children.
APD asks that Amarilloans keep the Sanchez family in their prayers during this difficult time.
