Dr. Ronny Jackson is officially on the Republican ballot to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon).

Jackson filed with the Texas Republican Party on Monday to secure his place on the ballot. Jackson’s entry into the race had long been rumored, with social media sites appearing to belong to the Republican’s campaign appearing over the weekend. His entry into the race makes him the fifteenth Republican to declare for the seat.

A native of Levelland, Jackson served as Physician to the President for Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump. Jackson was Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Veterans Affairs last year, but withdrew after controversy.

Candidate filings end today. Primary election day is March 3, 2020.
