Another candidate has entered the growing contest to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon).

Amarillo resident Jack B. Westbrook announced on Wednesday that he has decided to file to run for Thornberry’s seat in 2020. Westbrook is running for the Libertarian Party’s nomination for the seat. No other Libertarians have launched bids for the District 13 seat.

Westbrook previously ran for State Sen. Kel Seliger’s District 31 seat in 2018, winning about 13 percent of the vote. He also ran for a seat on the Amarillo College Board of Regents in 2019, receiving just under 4,000 votes in the contest.

A number of Republican and Democratic hopefuls have also launched bids for the seat.

Candidates will continue to file for spots on the ballot through December 9.
