Council Talks Cross Bar Ranch, Smith Suggests Partnerships

The Amarillo City Council met for a work session on Tuesday and discussed issues related to the Cross Bar Ranch.

During the work session of Tuesday's meeting of the Amarillo City Council, Smith discussed the Cross Bar Ranch with the City Council. Several Councilmembers discussed building better access to the piece of land, but Smith suggested other ways for the City to help community access to the land.

"I think we should partner with Texas Parks and Wildlife" Smith said, also noting that Potter County Commissioner Leon Church has discussed the land during interviews in the past. Due to Church's involvement, Smith suggested Potter County as another possible partner is bettering access to the Cross Bar Ranch.

The Cross Bar Ranch is located about 15 miles north of Amarillo and is under the stewardship of the Bureau of Land Management. Several local governmental bodies, including Potter County, have been discussing access to the land for several years.
