City Council to Spend $110k Studying Water Meters

Amarillo City Councilmembers have several major topics on the agenda next week, including an issue dealing with local water meters.

According to an agenda posted for the Amarillo City Council's upcoming meeting, Councilmembers will consider approving a $110,000 contract for water meter consultation. The contract, which is made in an undetermined amount, not to exceed $110,000, will seek Sl-Secro, Inc. to consult on water meter issues in Amarillo. If approved, the consultant will work to identify "clear goals, mapping processes, identifying integrations and...direction" for water metering and water metering technology systems in Amarillo.

Also, during the meeting, Councilmembers will consider the approval of two other large contracts. The first item is a $216,078.72 contract with AmeriPride Services to purchase uniforms for City staff. The other contract is a $201,756.92 contract to purchase new traffic signals. Councilmembers are also being asked to consider a $1.99 million water treatment filter rehabilitation contract and an appointment to the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority Board of Directors.

The Amarillo City Council will meet on Tuesday, July 24th in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue). The meeting will begin at 5pm.
